Orlando Pirates winger marks his return with a man of the match award

Luvuyo Memela reveals he was excited to make his return to the Orlando Pirates team against Bloemfontein Celtic.

The winger returned to Pirates line up, and picked up the Man of the Match award as they defeated Celtic 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

However, Memela claims it was tough for him to play in the opening stages especially with the hot weather.

“It was very tough, not easy and also hot. Especially for me as I haven’t played in a while. My last game was against Baroka, so it was tough and knew that we needed to win this game,” Memela said to SuperSport TV.

“But we played a lot of games which helped me with my fitness I’m happy for the guys and thankful to the coach for giving me the chance.”

When asked about how he felt about returning to the line up, he added, “I was excited but I didn’t need to be very excited because sometimes it can kill you. I just told myself that I’m going to be simple, as the coach said be simple first and as the time goes play your game while is what I did.

“I’m also happy for Thami [Sangweni] I know he hasn’t played since the first game, so I’m happy we both did well and I’m happy we won.”
