Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Gift Motupa will remain with Baroka FC until the end of the current campaign.
Siya sources close to the Pirates camp have confirmed that the 23-year-old will only be eligible to return to Pirates in the July transfer period at the end of the 2017/18 season.
“We have seen the reports saying that Pirates has made a mistake in sending Gift to Baroka and that he will be called back in January,” said the Siya source.
“The fact is that Motupa was sent out on a season-long loan spell at Baroka, so how can he come back only after half a season. He did very well last season and that is why he was sent out on loan to get more game-time. If anything, the club is happy that he has done well but his future will be decided in July and not January,” confirmed the source.
Meanwhile, Motupa and his Baroka teammates will be taking on the Soweto giants when the two clubs meet to resume the league campaign for the new year.
The game will be played at the Orlando Stadium this Saturday in a late fixture scheduled to start at 20h15.
