Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane reveals the Soweto giants were well prepared for their clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
He went on to say that he is going to be the next Senzo Meyiwa of Orlando Pirates.
Goals from Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Mpho Makola and Luvuyo Memela guided Pirates to a 3-1 win at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Mabokgwane, who was named Man of the Match, says they were confident of collecting three points against Pitso Mosimane’s side.
“Thanks to the Almighty God for the opportunity and talent. All credit to the boys. It was a difficult match. We knew we were going to win it because we prepared well for this game. The boys worked hard. The technical made sure we are well prepared for this game,” Mabokgwane told SuperSport TV.
“The moment they couldn’t come through, I knew we were going to win it. They kept on coming and coming but we took two early leads. We made sure we stayed compact. We planned very well. We knew their moves, we knew how they play. In the second half both teams started getting tired it was hot. Congratulations to the Orlando Pirates family I’m so happy for them.
When asked what the award means to him, he added, “For me personally it means I’m on the right track. I’m doing the right things and I should keep going and work even harder.”
