Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has provided clarity on the absence of Musa Nyatama from the matchday squads.
Since making consecutive starts in first three matches of the 2018/19 season for Bucs, Nyatama has been a notable absentee in the recent starting line-ups at the Soweto giants.
The Buccaneers played their last four matches without the central midfielder, who is the club’s reigning Player of the Season.
Following Bucs’ 2-2 draw against Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership match played at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night, Head Coach Milutin Sredojevic provided clarity on Nyatama’s absence, saying that he is fighting for a place in the team.
“He is one of the midfielders (and) he is fighting for the place in the team. When we get him in the shape that everyone knows him, as the Player of the Season last year, we shall, of course, use him and he will be a very important member of the squad,” Sredojevic told the media.
During the 2017/18 PSL campaign for Bucs, Nyatama made a staggering 27 starts in his first season with the club, which was the highest numbers of appearances by any player in Sredojevic’s team.
