Mamelodi Sundowns captain suspended for the Nedbank semifinal match

Mamelodi Sundowns will be without a key player going into this weekend’s Nedbank Cup semi-final with Maritzburg United, with Pitso Mosimane having to find a replacement.

Masandawana’s captain fantastic, Hlompho Kekana, picked up his fourth yellow card of the season during the win over Golden Arrows earlier this week, meaning he will miss just his sixth game of the season in all competitions.

There is good news for Mosimane though, of the five matches that ‘KK’ has missed so far during this campaign, Sundowns have won four and drawn the other; managing to deal with his absence on previous occasions.

Sundowns are still in search of a league and cup double as they come up against Maritzburg on Sunday evening, with the Brazilians already having one hand on the Absa Premiership title.

Judging by Mosimane’s decisions in recent games, without Kekana, it is likely that Oupa Manyisa will be called upon to partner alongside Tiyani Mabunda in central midfield, with the former Orlando Pirates man looking to play his part in helping his side reach the final.

Sundowns play the Team of Choice at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday night at 19h30.
