Mabasa the best current Pirates striker

Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Sandile Ndlovu, has been impressed with Orlando Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa in his first season with the Soweto giants.

While Mabasa has struggled for game time at the Buccaneers under German coach Josef Zinnbauer, the 23-year-old’s impressive form early in the season under then caretaker coach Rulani Mokwena earned him a number of followers.

As Mabasa works on regaining his place in the Bucs’ starting line-up when the season resumes, a lot will be expected from him to rekindle his form to help the team by scoring goals.

“Tshegofatso Mabasa from Pirates is a very good striker. I was impressed with him from some of his games at the beginning of the season. I am impressed with the way he runs off the ball. It’s just that he doesn’t stay long enough around the box, which is the downfall of many strikers these days,” said Ndlovu.

Having joined Bucs from Bloemfontein Celtic, Mabasa was quick to adapt at the Soweto giants as he enjoyed a rich vein of form and scored goals after he netted six times from the first 10 matches of the season.
