Kaizer chiefs are currently doing well in the PSL and have managed to bounce back after a bad start of the current 2016/17 PSL season. Chiefs were struggling so much that the fans were calling for Steve Komphela to be released as their coach and Bobby Motoung to be released as the team manager.

Now Chiefs have collected a lot of points from a few wins since they started playing well before the end of the first round. They have also signed a few players who are currently doing well including Gustavo Paez who played his football outside of Africa before joining them.

The Italian striker who was born in Venezuela has impressed the Chiefs technical team and management in his first game for the team and has since won the heart of the Amakhosi faithful. As soon as he starts scoring goals, they will love him to pieces and will provide him with full support and courage to continue scoring goals for their team.

With current senior players like Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala on form, it is not going to be easy for teams to stop Chiefs from challenging for the league title. The two players have shown the fans that they are still great players and they were on the edge of being released at the end of the season if things did not turn out positively for the team.

At defense the likes of Mulomowandau Eric Mathoho and Lorenzo Gordinho are doing well. In midfield the likes of George Maluleke and Willard Katsande are doing well also. The team is slowly combining well and sooner they might be a force to be watched out by their PSL opponents.

Bobby Motoung is also under less stress as he has been called to explain a lot of things regarding players’ contracts as a lot of senior players were left with less than six months in their contracts and in terms of the law they were allowed to sing pre-contracts with other teams if they have not agreed any extension with Chiefs. Now a few senior players have extended their stay including Eric Mathoho.

There are a few things they still need to iron out. The release of players like Edward Manqele and Sphelele Mthembu should be dealt with accordingly and the technical team must be sure whether to release them or retain them going forward to avoid losing strikers for now and the future.

Camaldien Abraw has also returned to the team and is currently doing well after a long injury that led to the team not to registering him during the first round of the season. He was only registered with the PSL before the end of the window period in January 2017 meaning that he is now ready to play and score goals for the team.

Kaizer chiefs are amongst the teams that are challenging for the league title and if they continue collecting maximum points thy might realise their dream. The league contenders are currently Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Supersport United, Cape Town City and Bidvest Wits. The other teams are currently playing for the top 8 and Pirates might even miss out if they don’t turn the corner.
