A friendly between Jomo Cosmos and Angola turned ugly at the NFD club’s training grounds in Springfield on Friday afternoon.
The match failed to see a second half as two reds cards were brandished in a fiery opening stanza which had the Palancas Negras 1-0 up.
A report was posted on Ezenkosi’s website, which reads: ‘Ugly scenes marred Friday afternoon’s friendly international game between Jomo Cosmos and Angola’s home based national side at Ezenkosi’s training grounds in Springfield.
‘The game got off to a frantic start with both teams eager to assert themselves, but it was the visitors who got the upper hand after a quarter of an hour when a defensive lapse allowed the Palancas Negras to go 1-0 up.
‘However, things soon got heated up when an aggressive Angolan midfielder was shown the red card for a nasty foul.
‘As the end of the first half approached, rough tackles kept flying in and Cosmos defender Shane Thompson was caught out in melee when he also got sent off for a very reckless challenge on an opposing player.
‘The ugly incidents would later force the visitors to opt out of the game without honouring second half proceedings.’
