Bidvest Wits are believed to have turned down Cape Town City’s attempts at trying to land one of their goalkeepers.
The Mother City-based club revisited their interest in Wits’ Moeneeb Josephs after being keen on adding the shot-stopper to their books last year.
Josephs is currently in the final six months of his contract with the Students and despite the club having a further one-year option on the player’s deal, a decision about his immediate future is yet to be made by the club.
However, according to Siya sources, Wits are believed to have turned down City’s attempts at trying to lure the goalkeeper’s services in the current January transfer window, despite the 37-year-old’s lack of game-time.
City are believed to be determined to add depth to their goalkeeper department, as Shuaib Walter’s is also currently in the final six months of his contract.
The club currently has Walters, Tatenda and Sage Stephens on their books, with Stephens the number one man between the sticks.
City have previously shown interest in Kaizer Chiefs’ Brilliant Khuzwayo and it remains to be seen whether the club will look elsewhere after having their attempts at bribing Josephs to the club, turned down.
