Benni on standby as Pirates coach

Benni McCarthy is currently on standby by for Orlando Pirates if the new coach Kjell Jonevret should fail as a Pirates coach. The reason for the chairman to appoint a European coach was to first establish the reason why the team was not doing well and also to manage each and every player individually. Kjell Jonevret is the only coach with all the qualities needed to rescue Pirates from their current situation. He has done it with a number of teams in Europe and it was the right time for him to do it in South Africa.

Benni McCarthy is a qualified coach and has had a stint in Belgium as an assistant coach. He is currently in South Africa with a job at the national team Bafana Bafana who are currently finalizing an appointment of a new coach to replace the dismissed Shakes Mashaba. He is currently doing well in the national team alongside Lucas Radebe.

South African football has had a lot of European coaches and some of them have done well and helped with the growth of football in the country while others came in and robbed the country of natural traditional football players who were doing well before they came to the country.

The recent success by Pitso Mosimane as the best ever coach in the history of South African football has opened door for local coaches and he proved a lot of people wrong as the media and local supporters did not believe in him. Patrice Motsepe supported Pitso Mosimane throughout and even defended him from Sundowns supporters who were crying foul for having him as a Sundowns coach.

Pitso won each and every trophy that is available in South African and African football. He became the first coach to achieve such an achievement and is the most decorated coach in the history of South African football. He has done well than all the European coaches who braced the country from way back until today. He is an example that local talent should be embraced.

Steve Komphela at Chiefs is another coach who is designated to reach greater heights in his coaching career. Although he started slowly at Chiefs, he has final reached the point where the team is playing according to his philosophy and the results are there for everyone to see. The players are now understanding Steve’s tactics and the more is still yet to come from the Chiefs team in the PSL.

Benni McCarthy is another coach on the sidelines and waiting for a chance to coach one of the best teams in African football. He has previously played for Pirates after coming back at home from Europe. He scored a lot of goals for Pirates and helped the team win the treble in 2012. He is waiting for a chance as a coach now and is about time he be given the opportunity from now on.

If Kjell should not finish his three year term at Pirates for whatever reason, Benni will be the next coach for the buccaneers. Benni’s appointment will be good for South African football as all the top teams in the country will be coached by locals after Pitso and Komphela for Sundowns and Chiefs respectively.
