KV Oostende’s South African midfielder, Andile Jali, is unlikely to be available for Bafana Bafana duty due to an injury that he sustained while playing for his club.
The 27-year-old former Orlando Pirates man is expected to be out for around a month as he recovers from a knee injury that he sustained during the 3-2 win over Gent and consequently missed the 3-2 defeat to Standard Liege over the weekend.
Around 11h00 this morning Stuart Baxter will name his Bafana squad that will take part in a four-team tournament in Zambia later this, starting with a game against Angola on March 22nd.
Bafana will then take on either the hosts or Zimbabwe at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium – the venue for all the games – and Baxter has suggested that he will be selecting a young team for the competition.
Jali, however, will not be part of the side as he continues his recovery in Belgium, with the club confirming last week that he has sustained a knee injury that will keep him out of action for around a month.
It remains to be seen who will make it into Baxter’s squad for the clashes in Ndola, though South African football fans will not have to wait much longer as Baxter prepares to name his side in just a few hours.
Jali has played 24 league games for KVO this season and could play a big role in their push for a UEFA Europa League play-off spot.
