A Mamelodi Sundowns veteran defender is closing in on a move away from the Brazilians, while the futures of other Masandawana players remain unknown.
As reported in the past, the likes of Chippa United, Maritzburg United and Orlando Pirates have been showing interest in the defender, Thabo Nthethe, with the player falling out of favour at the Chloorkop-based club.
According to sources in the know, Chippa are believed to be closing in on a deal to bring the 33-year-old on board at the club when his contract comes to an end on June 30 this year.
However, it seems that the future might be looking up for only one of Sundowns’ out of favour players, as the futures of the likes of Asavela Mbekile and Sibusiso Kumalo are still up in the air at the club.
Mbekile has not featured in any of Sundowns’ matchday squads since the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, with the new additions to Head Coach Pitso Mosimane’s setup making it hard for the player to get a shot at first team football.
Mbekile’s contract with Sundowns will be coming to an end on June 30 and it remains to be seen who will look to snatch up the player’s services.
Another player, Kumalo, has also seen no game-time with the Brazilians this season, although unconfirmed reports reveal that the player’s contract with Sundowns is set to run beyond the current 2017/18 campaign.
