Cape Town City are believed to be eyeing a Kaizer Chiefs star as a potential transfer target in the near future as they look to bolster their goalkeeping department. They are now a second team interested in the keeper
As reported by the Siya crew last week, unconfirmed reports revealed that Brilliant Khuzwayo’s contract with Amakhosi is set to come to an end next year, June 30 and according to Siya sources Chiefs are looking to tie the goalkeeper down on a new long-term deal.
However, sources have since informed Soccer Laduma that the Chiefs’ shot-stopper is currently assessing his options, despite his known loyalty to the Amakhosi black and gold colours, indicating that Khuzwayo is hungry for regular game-time.
Sources have added that City are believed to be one of the admirers of the player’s trade, with the Mother City-based club keen to add a star goalkeeper to their books in the near future.
It is believed that Khuzwayo’s name has been mentioned as one of the many possible transfer targets for the club, with City also recently linked with Bidvest Wits’ Moeneeb Josephs.
The Citizens currently have Shuaib Walters, Sage Stephens and Samora Motloung on their books as first team goalkeepers for the current 2017/18 season, with Head Coach Benni McCarthy yet to find his number one man between the sticks.
City have been rotating between Walters and Stephens in their starting line-ups, indicating that McCarthy might not yet be completely satisfied with either of his goalkeeper’s performances.
It is clear that the Citizens will look to make a high-profile goalkeeper signing in the near future and with both Khuzwayo and Josephs currently in the final year of their contracts with their respective clubs, it remains to be seen whether the Mother City-based club will look to approach Chiefs or Wits in the upcoming January transfer window period.
