The former Orlando Pirates and Zambia international is looking into resurrecting his football career with a move to one of the best teams in the National First Division (NFD) in South Africa. Isaac Chansa was one of the best players in the PSL a few seasons ago and was part of the Orlando Pirates team that won treble under the Dutchman Ruud Krol.
The midfield maestro is currently a free agent after leaving the Zambian team Zanaco after winning the Zambian Premier League last season. He was part of the Zanaco tam for the whole season and helped the team clinch the championship with a goal against Lumwana Radiants to make sure they were crowned the champions of Zambian football.
The reason for Chansa to leave Zanaco was to come back to South Africa to try and get himself a contract in the PSL but as he did not manage to get a PSL offer before the transfer window, he is now looking at playing for the NFD side Royal Eagles FC which is an ambitious team. The team is looking at all possibilities of being promoted to the PSL next season and they also have top class players like Katlego Mphela.
As Chansa is a free agent he is allowed to sign with any team of his choice and start playing immediately. He is already in South Africa as we speak and is ready for a deal in the NFD and he is confident he will be back in the PSL soon with any team that will be interested in his services after impressing at the NFD.
Chansa feels the NFD is the right league for him to bring back the interest from PSL teams. He is not worried about playing in the NFD at all and is looking forward to help the team get promotion to the PSL if given a contract to play. He is one of the best players and is currently 32 which is not bad for a player of his caliber.
As things stand, Isaac Chansa is likely to be given a contract at Royal Eagles although management refused to comment on the issue with one of the officials indicating that they are not sure of the rumour but anything is possible in football and the team is open to sign any player they feel could add value and help the team to be promoted to the PSL for the first time in their history.
The teams in the NFD are currently underway for the second round of the season and the team at umber one spot Thanda Royal Zulu are making sure they get promoted to the PSL automatically as they continue to collect points and remain at the summit of the NFD log.
The teams from number 2 and 3 qualify for the promotional play-offs with number 15 in the PSL while number 16 from the PSL gets relegated automatically to make way for number 1 from the NFD. The positions are still open and currently Royal Eagles stand a chance to qualify for the play-offs.
The signature of Isaac Chansa will be a boost for the team in midfield as he has a lot of experience with South African football and has also represented his home country Zambia a lot of times.
